Westbrook passes physical on trip to St. Louis

Despite suffering two concussions that forced him to miss eight regular season games in 2009, former Eagles running back Brian Westbrook passed a physical he took for the St. Louis Rams over the weekend, per a report from Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Now, B-West needs to decide if he wants to take a shot at returning to the NFL for a ninth season.

"He wanted to go back (home) and think it over," Rams general manager Billy Devaney told Thomas. "We're just taking it one step at a time right now."

The 30-year-old Westbrook rushed for just 274 yards and one score in eight games with Philadelphia last season. After eight years in the NFL, Westbrook has yet to play a full 16-game season.

After going 1-15 in 2009, the Rams could use as much help on offense as they can get right now. Running back Steven Jackson finished second in the league in rushing last season (1,416 yards), but St. Louis still ended the year ranked 29th in total offense (279.4 yds/gm) and 32nd in scoring (10.9 pts/gm).

Westbrook may be past his prime, but this is one offense that could certainly use his help.
