Vikings wrap up minicamp, have no word on Favre

Brad Childress swapped some text messages with Brett Favre Sunday morning on the day of the final minicamp practice for the Minnesota Vikings.

But he has no idea when the quarterback will make a decision on whether or not to return for a 20th season in the NFL, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Childress declined to share what Favre texted back-and-forth about. Surely, Childress wasn’t chiding Favre for making Adrian Peterson feel like it was OK to skip out on mandatory minicamp. Right?

The Vikings are scheduled to report to training camp at Minnesota State University-Mankato on July 29. They will open with an afternoon practice on July 30 before launching into two-a-days. Favre didn’t report to the Vikings last year until they had wrapped up their summer session in Mankato and unpacked their bags at the team’s headquarters in Eden Prairie, Minn.

It’s entirely possible that Favre will want to take off those first two weeks or so of camp again and then fly north. Stay tuned.
