Torn ACL does in Dallas' John Phillips

The worst-case scenario the Dallas Cowboys were expecting came to fruition as an MRI on John Phillips’ right knee confirmed the tight end will miss the entire season with a torn ACL.

The loss is two-fold because Phillips was a versatile contributor on offense and special teams. There are depth issues now, according to Todd Archer of the Dallas Morning News, as No. 2 option Martellus Bennett has a sprained ankle. Kevin Brock is now battling a high ankle sprain leaving Jason Witten and Scott Sicko, an undrafted free agent, as the only healthy bodies on the roster.

Per Archer, you can expect the Cowboys to sign a tight end soon, if for nothing else than to be able to make it through practice.
