Titans' Mariani suffers compound fracture

Tennessee Titans return man Marc Mariani underwent surgery Thursday night for a compound fracture of his lower left leg, suffered on a kickoff return against Arizona.

Mariani, a Pro Bowl return man as a rookie in 2010, will be lost for the season, according to Titans coach Mike Munchak via TitanInsider.com.

“I was very disappointed. I felt terrible for him,”Munchak said. “Just going out and obviously seeing the pain that he was in, you know those things like that can happen. … That's a big loss for us.”

Mariani's injury, coupled with the knee problems of Kenny Britt, have the Titans perhaps in the market for help at wide receiver. Also, Mariani's injury likely puts street free agent Darius Reynaud at the front of the line to handle returns now.
