Titans fire Chris Palmer

A day after the Tennessee Titans settled for five field goal tries in a 24-19 loss at Jacksonville, someone paid the price.

That someone was offensive coordinator Chris Palmer, who was let go Monday night and replaced by quarterbacks coach Dowell Loggains.

There had been whispers of Palmer's offense and play calling not being imaginative enough, and now it will be Loggains' turn to try and jump start a Titans offensive unit that has been inconsistent this season and had trouble finding ways to use weapons like Kenny Britt, Jared Cook and Kendall Wright consistently.

Munchak issued a statement regarding the change:

“I have a great deal of respect for Chris Palmer as a coach and that was the reason we brought him here. I appreciate the time and effort he put in here and I want to wish him and his family the best moving forward.

"As an offense I didn’t feel like we were progressing the way that I had hoped. I believe we needed a change in direction and I hope to see that progress in our remaining games. Dowell has worked here for a number of years under some very successful coordinators and he is ready for this challenge.”
