Source: Patriots linebacker Jerod Mayo restructures contract
New England Patriots linebacker Jerod Mayo restructured his contract, lowering his salary from $6.25 million to a guaranteed $4.5 million with the possibility of making $6 million should he play 85 percent of the snaps, according to a source.
Mayo has a $4 million option prior to the 2016 league year should the team wish to pick up the final two years of his deal.
Mayo has had season-ending injuries in 2014 and 2013, playing a dozen games as he tore his patellar tendon in his knee last season and tore a pectoral muscle two years ago.
For his career, Mayo has 851 tackles, 10 sacks, eight forced fumbles and three interceptions.
