Source: Notre Dame DT Kona Schwenke visited 49ers, Chiefs

Notre Dame defensive tackle Kona Schwenke visited the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers, according to a league source.

He also worked out for and had a private meeting with the 49ers prior to his Pro Day workout.

The 6-foot-4, 290-pounder ran the 40-yard dash in the mid 4.8 range during his Pro Day workout where he also bench pressed 225 pounds 27 times and had a 29-inch vertical leap, a 9-foot broad jump, a 4.49 20-yard shuttle and a 7.19 three-cone drill.

Schwenke has drawn fifth-round to seventh-round draft grades. If he was to go undrafted, he would be a high-priority free agent.

As a senior, he registered 23 tackles and a half-sack with one quarterback hit as a senior, starting seven of 12 games played.

As a junior, Schwenke started two of 11 games played and recorded five tackles, one for a loss and a half-sack.

The Hawai'i native was an all-state selection in high school and was ranked one of the top defensive end recruits on the West Coast and nationally by Rivals.
