Seattle would like to be in mix for future Super Bowl
The Seattle Seahawks would like to get in the mix for hosting a Super Bowl.
The Seahawks have submitted initial paperwork to the NFL according to Q13 Fox News, and the next step would be for the Super Bowl Advisory Committee to encourage the team to submit an official bid.
It’s way too early in the process to speculate whether or not Seattle could land a Super Bowl, and speculation is the future of Super Bowls in outdoor northern stadiums will rest largely on how the game is pulled off at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey in two years.
The Super Bowl requires a seating capacity of 70,000 and CenturyLink Field can reach that figure. The capacity in Indianapolis this year was just under 70,000. The average temperature in February in Seattle is 44 degrees and that is also just below the requirement. But none of these are viewed as roadblocks to a game in the Pacific Northwest.
Speculation is Seattle could throw its name in the hat for the 2018 game.
