Romo likely to take another painkilling shot this week

When your quarterback is anything less than 100 percent, there is always going to be a certain level of concern over his ability to get the job done.

Tony RomoICONRomo and the Cowboys look to rebound this week against the St. Louis Rams.

Dallas Cowboys passer Tony Romo sustained bruised ribs in the team's season opener and opted for a painkiller shot before suiting up against the Chiefs last week. It appears likely that the three-time Pro Bowler will once again receive a pregame shot despite his condition improving as the week has progressed.

"I think tentatively we are planning on it just because of the nature of it and what we thought," Romo told The Dallas Morning News. "It does feel better now than it did last week. It'll just keep getting better and better this week."

As with any instance where a player receives a numbing painkiller shot, it is fair to wonder whether Romo's effectiveness dwindled in the fourth quarter of last week's game when it perhaps began to wear off, as his accuracy dipped noticeably from a statistic perspective.

With the St. Louis Rams' defense -- tied for fourth in team sacks -- on tap for Week 3, this situation may be one worth monitoring.
