Rodgers: 'No doubt' Packers will get together if lockout persists
The defending Super Bowl champions are at least going to talk about getting together and holding some workouts.
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers, making an appearance Thursday night in Milwaukee during the Brewers game, said that he plans to speak with veteran cornerback Charles Woodson today about organizing some player-run sessions.
The Packers have yet to do anything on a large scale, although a small group of offensive linemen did gather in Tennessee to do some work.
“At some point, if this lockout persists, then there is no doubt we're going to get together,” Rodgers told Fox Sports Wisconsin during an in-game interview, according to ESPN Milwaukee.
“Guys have gotten in some great work individually, and some in groups of two or three,” Rodgers said. “There's a lot of guys in the same area working out, but at some point we'll have to get together. I'm going to talk to Charles tomorrow at the event I'm going to for Greg Jennings' charity, and we're going to put something together. Because it looks like it's going to go on for a little bit longer, so it's going to be important for us to get together.”
Per the report, Rodgers has reservations about player-run workouts because the potential risks – including injury – could easily outweigh the benefits. Players would not be covered for injuries suffered during player-run workouts in their contracts. We’ll see if anything gets done. Hopefully, there will be a resolution to the lockout in an orderly fashion so these overhyped player workouts will be a thing of the past.
