Report: Redskins close to hiring RB coach

The Washington Redskins are close to landing Bobby Turner as their running backs coach, according to the Denver Post.

Turner, who has been on staff in Denver since 1995, was initially denied permission to speak with the Redskins and his former coach Mike Shanahan about a job. When Shanahan came back and turned it into a promotion, adding the title of associate head coach to Turner’s duties, Broncos coach Josh McDaniels agreed to let him leave. Under NFL rules, he did not have to do so.

The report states that the Broncos are also in danger of losing line coach Rick Dennison, who has been offered the offensive coordinator job with the Houston Texans.

The only coach that Shanahan has officially hired in Washington to this point is his son Kyle Shanahan as offensive coordinator. It’s believed he will make a decision on some current Redskins assistants this week.
