Report: Rackers will visit Jets

Looks like Neil Rackers and Jay Feely could be trading places.

The ex-Arizona Cardinals kicker could replace the ex-New York Jets kicker as Rackers is scheduled to visit the Jets on Tuesday, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Rackers spent the last seven seasons with the Cardinals and was terrific for much of that time, which made his departure earlier this week when Arizona signed Feely a little surprising. Rackers was 16-for-17 on field goal tries this past season and 25-fo-28 the year before when the Cardinals reached Super Bowl XLIII. He had one of the better seasons in NFL history in 2005 when he was 40-of-42 with 21 of those tries from 40 yards and further out and seven from 50-plus.

Rackers’ agent Robert Roche outlined a scenario in which the Cardinals never really negotiated with his client, instead just choosing Feely. Now, Rackers could enter a situation where he would compete with Nick Folk in New York. The Jets signed the former Dallas Cowboys kicker but he hasn’t been the former Pro Bowl kicker he once was.
