Report: Aubrayo Franklin to sign contract Saturday

Aubrayo Franklin has done just about all he can to ensure that he is not injured in training camp and preseason.

He’s passed on training camp and preseason to this point.

But the San Francisco 49ers defensive tackle is ready to get going. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Franklin will fly to San Francisco on Saturday to sign his one-year contract tender for $7.003 million.

Franklin was franchise tagged by the 49ers and elected to skip camp and the preseason. He is hoping to receive a longterm contract and didn’t want to risk injury before what will be a critical season for him. Coach Mike Singletary has said he is not worried about what kind of shape Franklin will be in, knowing the veteran will arrive ready to play football.
