Redskins sign Jeremy Towns

The Washington Redskins have signed former Samford defensive lineman Jeremy Towns.

He went undrafted this spring.

He tried out for the New York Jets at a minicamp, but wasn't signed.

Towns had 54 tackles and a forced fumble last season with 2.5 sacks.

He takes over the roster spot vacated when Jerry Rice Jr. was waived-injured.
