Redskins shut down Chris Cooley, Tim Hightower

The Washington Redskins have placed two of the mainstays of their offense on injured reserve.

Running back Tim Hightower, who suffered a torn ACL in Sunday’s loss at Arizona, and tight end Chris Cooley, who just had finger surgery and has a lingering knee issue, will miss the remainder of the season.

Hightower’s trip to the IR was a foregone conclusion after reports circulated he suffered a torn ACL. Cooley was expected to return from the finger injury, but the knee has hampering him and he had to have it drained recently. Now, he won’t be back and you have to wonder how much of a career remains for him in Washington. Fred Davis has emerged as a talented tight end.
