Redskins add a long snapper to the mix

Kicking competitions are more common in training camp.

The Washington Redskins are going to have a snap off.

They added veteran long snapper James Dearth to the mix today and he joined the team in practice. Dearth snapped for the New York Jets previously, playing in 144 consecutive games for them. His competition will be Nick Sundberg, who signed with the team earlier in preseason.

The Redskins had put Dearth through a workout last week, according to the Washington Post, and there has been concern about Sundberg’s performance in camp.
