Panthers cut safety Thomas DeCoud

The Carolina  Panthers cut veteran safety Thomas DeCoud. DeCoud was heading into the final year of a two-year contract. His release creates Q$1.915 million in salary-cap space. DeCoud struggled last season and was benched. He was replaced by Tre Boston. DeCoud was cut by the Atlanta Falcons following the 2013 season, two years into a five-year, $17.5 million contract. He started 11 games last season for the Panthers. The Panthers signed offensive lineman Chris Scott to a one-year deal.
