Panthers claim Tavarres King

The Carolina Panthers were awarded wide receiver Tavarres King off waivers from the Denver Broncos.

King is a rookie from the University of Georgia who was selected by the Broncos in the fifth round. He spent the first six weeks of the year on the practice squad after catching five passes for 64 yards during the preseason.

He played in a school-record 56 career games at Georgia and finished third all-time in receiving touchdowns (21) and fourth in receiving yards (2,602).

The Panthers cut cornerback D.J. Moore.
