Oh, no! Don't go there! Columnist calls for Favre in Indy

Poor Kerry Collins.

He's a decent guy, who should be credited with getting his life back on track several years ago after a bout with alcohol. He's been to a Super Bowl and thrown for more than 40,000 yards.

But in his last two stops, Collins, who moonlights as a country songwriter, has had quite the sad tune to croon.

He was brought to the Tennessee Titans in 2006 on short notice to babysit Vince Young, only to have owner Bud Adams in VY's corner during most of Collins' five years there.

Collins then retires this summer, but comes back again on short notice, expecting to carry a clipboard for Peyton Manning. But with Manning out indefinitely with a neck injury, Collins has been thrown to the wolves in Indy, directing an offense than now seems about as stable as the Libyan government.

Now, Indianapolis Star columnist Bob Kravitz is invoking the “F-word” with the Colts, as in Favre.
From all previous indications, Brett Favre is happy in Hattiesburg, Miss., wearing his Wranglers and minding the farm. But Kravitz says the Colts have to find a new quarterback after an 0-2 start, whether its dragging Favre from the mothballs, handing things over to Curtis Painter or pitching in the towel and hoping to draft Andrew Luck next year.

Either way, the ride off into the sunset that Collins had hoped for has just gotten a lot bumpier the past two weeks.
