Notre Dame recruit dies on spring break

St. Xavier (Cincinnati) offensive tackle Matt James—one of the nation’s top offensive line prospects—died Friday night after falling from a third-floor balcony while on spring break in Panama City, Fla, according to multiple reports.

The 6’8”, 290-pound James was a five-star recruit who had committed to Notre Dame back in February. He was in Panama City with St. Xavier teammate and friend Luke Massa, a three-star recruit who had also committed to the Irish.

"Luke is devastated," Massa's father, Gary, told the Cincinnati Enquirer Friday night. "He lost one of his best friends."

According to WHJD.com, police are still investigating the incident.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the James family.
