No more Mike Singletary interviews for Dennis O'Donnell

No more fastballs for Mike Singletary.

Not in the contracted interview he does weekly for KPIX in San Francisco. Not from Dennis O’Donnell, any way.

The station pulled an interview O’Donnell did with the 49ers coach from its Web site last week after the coach grew heated at different points. O’Donnell will be replaced by Kim Coyle, according to Daniel Brown of the San Jose Mercury News.

Niners spokesman Bob Lange described the trip to the bullpen by KPIX as a “joint agreement.” The team has editorial input, also known as control of the production because of the contract. Per the report, Coyle will interview Singletary in person while O’Donnell did them via satellite from the station.

Singletary snapped at O’Donnell during the interview and he was besieged by questions about the team’s communication, or lack of it following the blowout loss in Seattle.

“I say things that I feel and I do have to do a better job at not letting the media bait me the way they did last week in one particular incident,” Singletary. “I do have to do a better job at that and I have to be smarter in that situation.”

Hey, maybe a change in interviewers will lead to a change on the field for the now 0-2 Niners.
