Mike Goodson pleads not guilty to weapons charges

New York Jets running back Mike Goodson entered a plea of not guilty for two separate weapons charges, according to ESPN New York.

Goodson and another male were arrested last summer after police found their vehicle stopped in the middle of the road. After searching the car, police found an unlawful handgun.

Goodson was also charged with possession of marijuana as well.

Anthony Fusco, Goodson's attorney, told ESPN New York that he plans to file a motion contesting the legality of the police's search for the gun.

Goodson rejected a plea deal offered by prosecutors.

The incident happened after Goodson signed a three-year, $6.9 million contract during last year's free agency period. He only appeared in two games this past season.
