Leslie Frazier still hopeful Vikings re-sign Antoine Winfield

Antoine Winfield is expected to pick a team for 2013 soon and Leslie Frazier remains hopeful he returns to the Minnesota Vikings.

Winfield, cut March 12 because the Vikings did not want to pay him $7.25 million for this season, has been courted by Frazier ever since.

We're all human,” Frazier told Ben Goessling of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, adding he has been in periodic contact with Winfield. “We all like to know we're wanted. I've tried to make that clear to him. I'll let him know, ‘If you've got any questions, you know how to reach me.’

“I don't know what direction he's leaning, but I'm hoping he'll come back and be a Viking.”

Even if the Vikings are successful in luring Winfield back, the team is expected to address the position in the draft. Along with wide receiver and middle linebacker, it’s among the team’s top needs.

Winfield has visited the Washington Redskins and Goessling reports he will visit the Seattle Seahawks.
