Khan: Tucker should be serious candidate for Jags' coach

New Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shahid Khan told the Jacksonville Times-Union that interim coach Mel Tucker should be a serious candidate for the permanent head coaching position.

"Absolutely I think he’s gotta be a serious candidate," Khan said. "The success really to me of an organization is having the bench strength to promote from within. Great institutions do that. I’m not saying the Jaguars are there, but he’s gotta be a serious candidate."

Of course, Khan made those comments before he watched the Jaguars get demolished 41-14 by the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday night.

Tucker will have two more chances to make an impression on Khan and general manager Gene Smith before the regular season is over.
