Jets trade conditional seventh-round pick for Ryan Fitzpatrick
The New York Jets have traded a conditional seventh-round pick to the Houston Texans to acquire quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick.
The pick can become a sixth-round pick depending on Fitzpatrick's playing time.
Fitzpatrick leaves the Texans after they re-signed Ryan Mallett and added Brian Hoyer.
Fitzpatrick played for offensive coordinator Chan Gailey previously when Gailey was the coach of the Buffalo Bills.
Fitzpatrick is expected to compete with Geno Smith for the starting job.
Before being benched last season, Fitzpatrick passed for 2,483 yards with 17 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
