The injury suffered by Washington Redskins return man Brandon Banks is more serious than his agent previously suggested.

Banks, who was injured in a stabbing outside a night club Saturday night, was originally said to be recovering in a D.C. hospital from a “superficial” wound. His friend, Christopher Nixon, had suffered more serious injuries to the face and chest.

Now, the Washington Post reports that Banks remains hospitalized with a tube inserted into his chest to prevent his left lung from collapsing. Banks’ agent James Gould originally said his client would be released from the hospital on Sunday. Now, the word is he will remain in the hospital until Wednesday, if not longer.

The news was surprising to at least some Redskins officials.

"He has a knife wound and a tube in his chest," Gould told Mike Jones of the Post. "And with that tube, he's had repeated X-rays. I do know that today's X-rays were good, so I'd expect him to be released very soon. There's no sense in rushing. Taking all of the necessary precautions is very important because knife wounds are dangerous. He was knifed in the chest."

Hopefully, Banks and his accomplice Nixon heal quickly.
