Giants promote Montori Hughes, place Johnathan Hankins on injured reserve

The New York Giants placed defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins on injured reserve, promoting Montori Hughes from the practice squad. Hughes is a former fifth-round draft pick of the Indianapolis Colts. He had 12 tackles in his second NFL season. Hankins had started 25 consecutive games before tearing his pectoral muscle. The Giants signed Louis Nix III and Nico Johnson to the practice squad. Follow me on Twitter: @AaronWilson_NFL Aaron Wilson covers the Texans for The Houston Chronicle.
