Eagles looking to trade up

While most draft reports that have been surfacing over the last week involve teams looking to trade down, here’s an interesting nugget about a team looking to make a move in the other direction.

According to Peter King of SI.com, the Philadelphia Eagles are looking to trade up into the first half of the first round.

King goes on to state that he believes Philly is interested in safeties Eric Berry (Tennessee) and Earl Thomas (Texas), both of whom are expected to be long gone by the time the Eagles pick at No. 24.

Philadelphia currently has 11 picks in this year’s draft, which is second most in the NFL. The New England Patriots are currently sitting on 12 selections.

The Birds would have to make a big move if they have any intentions of coming away with Berry. The All-American from Tennessee is widely regarded as the best safety in this year’s draft and isn’t expected to fall outside of the top ten.

However, with five picks in the top 87, Philly has the artillery to make something happen.
