Darnell Dockett tore right ACL

The Cardinals will have to move forward without one of its top defenders this season.

An MRI confirmed that defensive tackle Darnell Dockett did in fact tear his right ACL, the team announced. He will undergo surgery and miss the 2014 season.

Dockett had only missed two games in the previous 10 seasons he played. A durable staple of the Cardinals defense, this is quite an unexpected turn of events for a defense that figures to field one of the tougher units in the NFL.

Dockett was carted off the practice field on Monday when he injured his knee.

A season ago, Dockett recorded 36 tackles and 4.5 sacks. In his previous 10 seasons, Dockett has only missed two games.
