Cowher denies contact from Dolphins or anyone else

All the talk that Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross had reached out to Bill Cowher was shot down Sunday morning by the CBS analyst on the network's pregame show.

Cowher, who has been out of coaching since retiring from the Pittsburgh Steelers after the 2006 season, and has worked as a studio analyst for CBS since that time.

The Dolphins, winless and floundering under Tony Sparano, will almost certainly be in the market for a new coach sometime soon after falling to 0-7 after a loss to the New York Giants on Sunday.

But Cowher, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, said the Dolphins have not contacted him, nor has any other NFL team for that matter.

I have not been contacted directly or indirectly by any football team, or any organization. It’s all speculation and it’s unfortunate because it effects the lives of many people who are in the profession,” Cowher said, making his statement while seated next to Dolphins great Dan Marino.

“I’m here to say to you today, I do not plan on coaching next year. I love where I work, and more importantly I enjoy the people I work with [at CBS],” Cowher said . “So I can put all this speculation to rest, and if I have to repeat this in December I will.

“It’s a tough profession, and I know the speculation is out there. I’m flattered by it, but at the same time it effects too many people’s lives. I like what I’m doing right here and I plan on being back in the same seat next year.”
