Chuck Pagano says Colts sticking with Trent Richardson

The Indianapolis Colts are sticking with running back Trent Richardson as their starter.

Richardson has rushed for 54 yards over the past two weeks while Boom Herron has rushed for 153 yards.

Herron rushed for 88 yards in a win over the Washington Redskins. That's more yards in one game than Richardson has rushed for since joining the Colts.

Richardson is averaging just 3.3 yards per carry.

“We’re not there,” coach Chuck Pagano said. “You guys might be, but I’m not.”

Herron has lost a fumble in each of the past two games.

“Protect the football, there’s nothing more important than protecting the football,” Pagano said. “Go back to work this week, ball security was obviously a point of emphasis, been a point of emphasis from Day One with this regime and it’ll continue to be that way. Can’t turn the ball over. He knows that.”
