Chargers place Larry English on IR, sign Adrian Robinson

The San Diego Chargers have placed outside linebacker Larry English on injured reserve with pectoral injury, and signed outside linebacker Adrian Robinson.

English was injured while recording a sack against Peyton Manning on Sunday. He played in all nine games and started the last five games this season after taking over for injured veteran Dwight Freeney. English had 19 tackles and 2 1/2 sacks this season,

Robinson originally signed with Pittsburgh as an undrafted rookie free agent last year.

He played in 12 games for the Steelers as a rookie, all on special teams. In August, the Steelers traded Robinson to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for running back Felix Jones.

The Eagles later waived Robinson and he was claimed by the Denver Broncos. Robinson played in six games for the Broncos, recording one tackle on defense and two on special teams before he was waived lat month.

Robinson attended Temple University where he was a first-team All-Mid-American Conference pick as a senior, as well as an East Coast Athletic Conference All-Star. As a sophomore in 2009, Robinson was the conference Defensive Most Valuable Player along with a first-team all-conference pick after recording 14 tackles for loss and five forced fumbles.
