Chargers cut Brandon Jones

The San Diego Chargers released veteran cornerback Brandon Jones with the signing of Pro Bowl cornerback Brandon Flowers to a one-year contract worth up to $5 million with a base value of $3 million, including a $1.5 million base salary and a $1.5 million signing bonus.

Jones was signed by the Chargers in December.

He played collegiately at Rutgers.

He has previous stints with the New England Patriots, New York Giants and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Jones, 24, has never played in a regular-season game.
