FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — Wide receivers Quincy Enunwa, Terrelle Pryor and Robby Anderson top a lengthy list of banged-up players on the New York Jets’ first injury report of the week.

There are 18 players listed Wednesday, meaning one-third of the entire 53-man roster.

Quarterback Sam Darnold is on there, with his right elbow listed, but he was a full participant at practice and says he’s completely fine.

Meanwhile, Enunwa (ankle) and safety Marcus Maye (broken thumb) have already been ruled out for the Jets’ game Sunday against Minnesota.

Anderson (hamstring) and Pryor (groin) didn’t practice, and the Jets could look to add a receiver this week.

Also sitting out Wednesday’s practice: cornerbacks Trumaine Johnson (quadriceps) and Buster Skrine (concussion), running back Isaiah Crowell (foot), defensive lineman Leonard Williams (back) and linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis (foot).

Bears pass rusher Khalil Mack day to day with ankle injury

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) — Chicago Bears star pass rusher Khalil Mack is day to day because of an ankle injury, coach Matt Nagy said on Wednesday.

Mack was hurt early in last week's overtime loss at Miami and his 2018 streak of at least one sack and one forced fumble in each

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) — Chicago Bears star pass rusher Khalil Mack is day to day because of an ankle injury, coach Matt Nagy said on Wednesday.

Mack was hurt early in last week’s overtime loss at Miami and his 2018 streak of at least one sack and one forced fumble in each game ended. Playing without the two-time All-Pro would be a huge blow, particularly with Tom Brady and the New England Patriots visiting on Sunday.

“We’re just going to continue to keep an eye on it and make sure whatever we do, we’re more cautious than anything,” Nagy said. “I believe in that and I think it’s important to go that route.”

Mack has not missed a game since Oakland drafted him with the No. 5 overall pick in 2014. Chicago acquired him from the Raiders just before the start of the season, after he held out the entire offseason and preseason trying to secure a long-term deal rather than play under the final season of his rookie contract. He and the Bears then agreed to a six-year, $141 million extension that guarantees $90 million.

The trade for Mack has energized a franchise with four straight last-place finishes in the NFC North. Despite the loss at Miami, the Bears (3-2) remain in sole possession of the division lead for the first time since late in the 2013 season. But the defense wasn’t the same against the Dolphins with Mack at less than 100 percent.

The pass rush never got to Miami quarterback Brock Osweiler, and the Bears’ league-best run defense was trampled by 35-year-old running back Frank Gore for 101 of Miami’s 161 yards rushing.

Missed tackles on Albert Wilson contributed to two shorter passes going for long touchdowns to cap off a rough game in the heat for the Bears.

Tannehill also missed Sunday’s overtime win against the Chicago Bears. Brock Osweiler threw for a career-high 380 yards and three touchdowns as Tannehill’s replacement and will start against Detroit.

Tannehill was on the field in shoulder pads during practice Wednesday but didn’t throw.

Coach Adam Gase said Tannehill’s status remains day to day. The coach said he doesn’t know whether Tannehill will be able to play Oct. 25 at Houston, but said Tannehill is still expected to return at some point this season.

DAVIE, Fla. (AP) — Two people with knowledge of the situation say the NFL is looking into how the Miami Dolphins reported quarterback Ryan Tannehill shoulder problem on injury reports last week.

The people confirmed the NFL’s interest in the matter to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Wednesday because the league wasn’t commenting.

It’s common for the league to look into such situations involving a prominent player. The league is expected to contact the Dolphins to understand the details and make sure the injury report policy was followed.

Tannehill sat out Sunday’s overtime win against the Chicago Bears, and replacement Brock Osweiler threw for a career-high 380 yards.

Coach Adam Gase has said the condition in Tannehill’s throwing shoulder worsened as last week progressed. Osweiler took “maybe a few reps” in Thursday’s practice, Gase said, but the injury report said Tannehill participated fully in the workout.

The Dolphins listed Tannehill as questionable Friday, and the decision not to play him was made hours before kickoff.

The Miami Herald first reported the NFL will look into the matter.

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP) — The Atlanta Falcons are placing running back Devonta Freeman on injured reserve with a groin injury.

The team made the announcement Tuesday, another major setback in its injury plagued season.

One of the NFL’s highest-paid running backs, Freeman is the fifth Atlanta player to go on injured reserve this season. He follows safeties Keanu Neal and Ricardo Allen, linebacker Deion Jones and offensive guard Andy Levitre.

Freeman has slowed by a variety of injuries the last two seasons. This year, he missed three games with a bruised knee sustained in a season-opening loss at Philadelphia. When he returned for a game at Pittsburgh, he went down with a foot injury and also was bothered by groin soreness.

The Falcons didn’t think the groin problem was serious, but further tests showed Freeman needs a surgical procedure. The team is hopeful he will be able to return late in the season.

Parry played in the first two games and had a sack against Green Bay. He was cut in favor of defensive tackle Tom Johnson on Sept. 19.

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — A person with direct knowledge of Josh Allen’s injury tells The Associated Press the Buffalo Bills rookie quarterback has been diagnosed with a sprained right elbow on his throwing arm and is not expected to play against Indianapolis on Sunday.

The person says Allen’s playing status is considered week to week as opposed to being indefinite. The person spoke to The Associated Press on Tuesday on the condition of anonymity because the team has not revealed the nature of the injury.

The first-round draft pick was hurt while being hit on both sides shortly after completing a pass in the third quarter of a 20-13 loss at Houston on Sunday.

The injury leaves Buffalo choosing between turnover-prone Nathan Peterman and newly signed veteran Derek Anderson to start Sunday.

Peterman has thrown four interceptions this season, including two in the final two minutes against Houston. The second-year player lost the starting job after faltering in a 47-3 season-opening loss at Baltimore.

Anderson is a 12-year veteran who was lured out of semiretirement to sign with Buffalo last week to mentor Allen. The 35-year-old Anderson attempted just eight passes in three appearances with Carolina last season, and hasn’t started a game in nearly two years.

Lions coach Matt Patricia doesn’t seem to be ruling out a return for Agnew at some point this season, but Detroit will obviously be without him for a while. The Lions signed linebacker Trevor Bates to the active roster from the practice squad.

Agnew earned All-Pro honors last season, when he returned two punts for touchdowns. He’s averaged only 5.6 yards per punt return this season, but has also returned six kickoffs for an average of 27.8 yards.

The Lions selected Agnew in the fifth round of the 2017 draft.

ATLANTA (AP) — Falcons kicker Matt Bryant is likely to miss the next game against the New York Giants after straining his right hamstring making a 57-yard field goal.

Coach Dan Quinn said Monday that the Falcons are going to bring in another kicker by the time they return to practice this week. Giorgio Tavecchio, who was with the team at the end of the preseason, is among the candidates to fill in for at least one game.

The 43-year-old Bryant is one of Atlanta’s most reliable offensive weapons. He has made all nine of his field goal attempts this season, including three from at least 50 yards.

His long kick Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers helped clinch a 34-29 victory. But Bryant immediately grabbed his hamstring, hobbled off the field and headed straight to the locker room.

The Falcons (2-4) face the New York Giants (1-5) next Monday night.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — The Denver Broncos have lost guard Ron Leary, their best offensive lineman, to a torn Achilles, the latest misfortune for a team that’s mired in a four-game skid.

Leary was injured early in the second half of Denver’s 23-20 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday and was replaced by Max Garcia.

Coach Vance Joseph said Monday that Leary will be placed on injured reserve.

“That’s a huge loss for us from a leadership perspective,” Joseph said. “From a player perspective, it’s a huge loss. You know, we have great depth in that room, obviously with (right guard Connor) McGovern and Max being starters now and (rookie) Sam Jones dressing on game day. So, we’ll see how that works out, but I feel good about that room. I do.”

General manager John Elway said on his weekly radio show that he’s searching for a roster replacement for Leary, but with a game Thursday night in Arizona that addition won’t be someone who can provide immediate help.

Coach Mike Zimmer confirmed the diagnosis on Monday. Hughes was hurt in the fourth quarter of Minnesota’s 27-17 win over Arizona on Sunday.

Though the Vikings had more pressing needs on the offensive line in the draft, they refused to pass up Hughes with the 30th overall selection out of Central Florida. In addition to seeing extensive time in the secondary, Hughes has taken turns returning kickoffs and punts and played on coverage units.

This is the second straight year the Vikings have lost their top pick to an ACL injury in October. Running back Dalvin Cook went down in the fourth game last season.

BEREA, Ohio (AP) — Browns Pro Bowl linebacker Joe Schobert is expected to miss some games with a hamstring injury.

Schobert got hurt in the third quarter of Sunday’s 38-14 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. Coach Hue Jackson said Schobert will be “down for a little while” and will be evaluated on a week-to-week basis.

Cleveland’s defense can’t afford to lose a player such as Schobert, who tied for the league lead with 144 tackles last season. The Browns gave up 246 yards rushing in Sunday’s blowout loss.

Christian Kirskey could slide over from outside linebacker to take Schobert’s spot.

Also, Browns wide receiver Rod Streater suffered a neck fracture while covering a punt Sunday and is done for the season. Streater got hurt in the first quarter and his injury is the latest blow to Cleveland’s injury-depleted receiving unit.

He was expected to get more playing time while Rashard Higgins (knee) and Derrick Willies (collarbone) recover from their injuries.

The Browns said Streater is “doing well” and team doctors expect him to make a full recovery. Streater does not need surgery at this time.

Willies had an operation on Monday to fix his collarbone after he broke it in practice on Friday. The team remains hopeful Willies will return at some point in 2018.

The injury situation could force the Browns to sign another wide receiver or make a trade. The team signed free agent Breshad Perriman on Saturday, but he did not have enough time to learn the offense and was inactive Sunday.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Titans coach Mike Vrabel says linebacker Derrick Morgan probably will miss “a few weeks” after hurting a shoulder against the Baltimore Ravens, though left guard Quinton Spain is day to day after hurting his right shoulder.

Vrabel said Monday that it’s unfortunate the Titans won’t have Morgan for a few weeks as a veteran guy who studies and takes care of his body.

Morgan played 19 snaps in the 21-0 loss to the Ravens before leaving the game. The nine-year veteran has started the past five games for the Titans (3-3), and he has 13 tackles with seven quarterback pressures this season.

Spain was hurt in the third quarter with 7:06 left, and he did not return. Spain, who has started 39 of his 41 games with Tennessee, was replaced by Corey Levin. Vrabel says they will know more on Spain later but are hoping to have him Sunday in London against the Chargers (4-2).

Gase described Tannehill’s status as day to day and said he didn’t know whether there was a chance the injury could be a long-term issue. Gase said he’s confident Tannehill will play again this season.

The situation is unusual because Gase said Tannehill’s shoulder got worse as last week progressed. Tannehill was ruled out of Sunday’s game against Chicago hours before kickoff, and replacement Brock Osweiler led the Dolphins to a 31-28 overtime victory.

Gase quashed any potential quarterback controversy by saying Tannehill will return to the lineup when he’s healthy.

“This was the first time I’ve been ejected from a game in my entire life, so for me it was very humbling,” Hicks said. “The next time I’m in that situation it will give me a chance to react better.

“It’s also a lesson to the guys on the team that you don’t put your personal situation above the team’s situation.”

Hicks pushed down judge Mike Carr. The official was attempting to break up a dispute between Bucs guard Ali Marpet and Hicks after Bears safety Eddie Jackson intercepted a pass.

Following the ejection, Hicks went to the sideline and threw his jersey and shoulder pads into the stands and went to an empty locker room.

“There’s no feeling like going into the locker room at halftime, or just before halftime, by yourself,” Hicks said. “You sit in the locker room, it’s just not something you’re accustomed to.

“So it was definitely a relief to not be suspended, but also it was a time for reflection for myself.”

Hicks said his message to teammates after the incident was a simple one: “I wanted them to know how I felt about the situation and how wrong my response was to the situation.”

Hicks hadn’t talked about the incident with media since the ejection occurred.

“I know there are a lot of young guys that look up to me on this team, and it’s hypocritical of me to go out there and do things like that and come back to the locker room and think that everything’s gravy,” Hicks said. “It doesn’t work that way.”

Chicago’s defense ranks second in the NFL this season, and is first against the run. Hicks is a major force in the run defense, and last year also led the team in sacks with 8 ½.

“You’re talking about one of the leaders on this defense,” Bears linebacker Khalil Mack said. “Just knowing that he’s going to be out there is going to boost morale for sure.”

Bears coach Matt Nagy was satisfied Hicks had learned a lesson.

“He knew he made a mistake, and that’s not who he is,” Nagy said. “I think his track record shows that.”

Coach Doug Marrone says Fournette (hamstring), left tackle Josh Wells (groin) and cornerback D.J. Hayden (toe) will miss Sunday’s road game.

The Jaguars (3-2) signed veteran Jamaal Charles on Tuesday with the expectation that Fournette would be sidelined for an extended period. They also placed third-stringer Corey Grant (foot) on injured reserve.

No one would be surprised to see Fournette sidelined until after Jacksonville’s bye week, potentially returning Nov. 11 against Indianapolis.

The second-year pro from LSU already has missed six of 21 regular-season games and left his only two starts this season because of hamstring tightness.

He has 71 yards rushing on 20 carries this season.

CLEVELAND (AP) — Browns wide receiver Rashard Higgins could miss some games with a sprained knee.

Coach Hue Jackson said Monday that an MRI taken on Higgins revealed he sprained his medial collateral ligament while blocking during Sunday’s overtime win against the Baltimore Ravens. Higgins, who is having a breakout season, had three catches for 66 yards and a 19-yard touchdown before getting hurt.

Jackson said surgery has been ruled out. He’ll be evaluated “week to week.” The team did not specify which knee Higgins injured.

Undrafted rookie Derrick Willies replaced him Sunday and made perhaps the game’s biggest play, turning a short catch into a 39-yard gain to help set up the game-winning field goal.

The Browns are also working out veteran free agent Rishard Matthews. He was released last month by Tennessee.

Jackson said he and general manager John Dorsey have not spoken recently about former Dallas star Dez Bryant, who visited the team this summer.

CLEVELAND (AP) — The Browns placed starting cornerback Terrance Mitchell on injured reserve with a broken right wrist.

Mitchell got hurt in the second quarter of Sunday’s 45-42 loss at Oakland. He underwent surgery on Monday, when coach Hue Jackson said he didn’t think Mitchell’s injury was season-ending. The team can designate two players to return from injured reserve after six weeks.

Mitchell broke his wrist while breaking up a pass intended for Jordy Nelson. Following the play, Mitchell grabbed his arm and immediately went to the sideline.

To replace Mitchell, the Browns signed Jeremiah McKinnon from their practice squad. McKinnon is in his first NFL season out of Florida International. He was originally signed by Dallas in 2016.

Mitchell, who signed with Cleveland as unrestricted free agent earlier this year, had 19 tackles and one interception in four starts.

Jackson said either E.J. Gaines or T.J. Carrie will replace Mitchell as a starter.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota is starting this weekend against the Eagles, no matter how limited his injured right hand might be.

Mariota is Tennessee’s best option with backup QB Blaine Gabbert in the concussion protocol. Austin Davis just joined the Titans and has been given a crash course in the Titans’ offense but is still learning the playbook.

“We’re obviously excited about that because he’s feeling better, and that’s all we were really hoping for along the way the last couple weeks,” Titans coach Mike Vrabel said Wednesday.

Mariota hurt his elbow when hit in the season opener, a 27-20 loss in Miami . He tried to stay in that game only to be intercepted twice before giving way to Gabbert. Mariota was active for their 20-17 win over Houston with Gabbert getting the win as the starter, but Mariota came into last weekend’s 9-6 win at Jacksonville after Gabbert was forced out with a concussion.

He used his legs for 51 yards averaging 7.3 yards per carry, and Mariota was 12 of 18 for 100 yards passing against the Jaguars with his longest completion going 22 yards. In the open portion of practice, he also took some snaps from shotgun.

“Just taking it one day at a time,” Mariota said. “We’ll see how it feels throughout the week. I hope it continues to get better and yeah we’ll see.”

Mariota threw down the field only once in Jacksonville, a throw to Corey Davis that drew a defensive pass interference penalty.

Just how limited the Titans quarterback could be again remains to be seen.

Tennessee’s offense has scored only two touchdowns through three games, and a healthier Mariota could be a big key to taking a step forward.

“I don’t anticipate that being an issue going forward with how things have been here the last couple days,” Vrabel said of needing to pare back the game plan.

Helping Mariota and the Titans could be the return of right tackle Jack Conklin, an All Pro as a rookie who tore his left ACL in the divisional playoff loss in New England. Both Mariota and Conklin practiced fully Wednesday, and Vrabel said this was the game they had hoped Conklin might be able to return.

That would leave only three-time Pro Bowl tight end Delanie Walker as the missing starter that Tennessee expected to have this season. Walker is recovering from a broken ankle hurt in the opener.

Coach Doug Pederson and the Eagles (2-1) are preparing for a healthy Mariota.

“He throws the ball extremely well in the air,” Pederson said. “His ability to make plays with his legs is a tough thing for any defense. But, it is something that I find our defense will have to be prepared for.”

Pederson said it’s hard to simulate what Mariota can do with his legs in the Titans’ offense including scrambling and the run pass option. He compared the challenge to facing Russell Wilson of Seattle.

“Our defense has their work cut out for them,” Pederson said. “You have to stay disciplined, obviously, while trying to limit the number of long distance runs he’s capable of doing.”

Notes: K Ryan Succop was among five Titans who did not practice Wednesday with tendinitis in his left, plant leg. WR Rishard Matthews missed with personal reasons. LB Kamalei Correa (back) was limited. CB Adoree Jackson (concussion) practiced fully and still needs to be cleared by an outside doctor. S Kendrick Lewis (foot) practiced fully.

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP) — Atlanta running back Devonta Freeman will miss his second straight game with a knee injury, and the Falcons also will be without starting defensive end Takk McKinley when they host the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.

Coach Dan Quinn declared both players out Friday, extending a rash of injuries that have plagued the Falcons (1-1) already this season.

Freeman went down with a bruised knee in a Week 1 loss to Philadelphia, while McKinley sustained a groin injury that kept him off the field in the closing stages of last weekend’s 31-24 victory over Carolina.

Tevin Coleman took over as the primary running back against the Panthers, rushing for 107 yards, and rookie Ito Smith also was effective. The loss of McKinley means Brooks Reed will likely move into a starting role vs. the Saints.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) — Stuck at home while out with a groin injury, Bobby Wagner met up with former Seattle teammates Kam Chancellor and Cliff Avril to watch the Seahawks’ game in Chicago.

Sitting there as his team lost wasn’t very enjoyable for Wagner.

“I’m definitely a guy who yells at the TV. I’m calling out plays and think they’re going to hear you,” Wagner said Thursday.

Seattle’s All-Pro middle linebacker is expected back in the lineup Sunday when the Seahawks host Dallas looking to avoid falling to 0-3 for the first time under Pete Carroll. For the most part, the defense wasn’t the problem on Monday night against the Bears. The Seahawks held them to 271 total yards and only 10 offensive points after Chicago scored on its opening drive.

But having Wagner back will certainly be a boost in what’s essentially become a must-win game just three weeks into the regular season.

Wagner said he was initially injured in the second quarter of the season-opening loss at Denver. He didn’t believe it was going to be an issue until after the game.

Sitting out Week 2 showed Wagner had gained a new perspective after the issues he had with a lingering hamstring injury last season.

Wagner wouldn’t sit a year ago to let his hamstring have at least a week off to get better. The result was a muscle injury that got worse until Wagner was on the field unsuccessfully trying to play on one leg.

“Last year I was kind of in the same situation with my hamstring and I can say I didn’t necessarily trust the trainers in that situation and it kind of lingered for the last eight games,” he said. “It wasn’t something I wanted to do again so I made the grown up decision and did the right thing this time.”

Asked why he was so stubborn a year ago, Wagner said he believed he could play through the injury and still contribute at a high level. It wasn’t until Seattle’s Week 14 loss at Jacksonville that it became a significant issue and it was completely evident a week later in a blowout loss to the Rams.

“I felt like I fared pretty well up until the Jacksonville game. I think that’s when it really got worse and it kind of lingered into the Rams game, which if you watch the film you see it,” Wagner said. “Kind of dealing with that I didn’t want to do that again and was smarter this time.”

An unintended benefit of Wagner’s injury this season was the opportunity for Austin Calitro to make his first start. Seattle has struggled to find a clear backup for Wagner since his rookie season, at times shifting K.J. Wright into the middle for games Wagner has missed. Calitro received positive reviews from his first start, and has now played significant snaps at two linebacker positions in the first two weeks.

“He played a really good football game and it’s more than just the plays and getting lined up and all,” coach Pete Carroll said. “It was making the calls, handling situations, handling the adjustments that we made during the game, communicating to guys around him. He played like a veteran player and I was really pleased with that.”

Landry, who has 12 catches for 175 yards in his first two games for Cleveland, has been limited during workouts this week and the team listed him as questionable on Wednesday’s injury report.

Landry said he was confident he would play when he spoke to reporters on Tuesday.

Linebacker Christian Kirksey is doubtful as he continues to recover from an ankle and shoulder problem. Kirksey sat out Sunday’s loss in New Orleans, and with a short week, it’s possible the Browns (0-1-1) will rest him again.

Starting defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah will sit out his second consecutive game with a left ankle injury sustained Week 1 against Pittsburgh, and tight end Seth DeValve with a hamstring injury.

Also, starting safety Damarious Randall is questionable with a heel injury.

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP) — Wide receiver Julio Jones, held out of practice with a calf injury, has joined the Atlanta Falcons’ long list of injured players.

Running back Devonta Freeman (sore right knee), who missed last week’s win over Carolina , and defensive ends Takk McKinley and Derrick Shelby, who have groin injuries, also did not practice Wednesday. Coach Dan Quinn says the three are day to day and have not been ruled out for Sunday’s game against New Orleans.

Quinn did not mention Jones’ injury when he spoke before practice. Jones was seen walking around the locker room during the period open to reporters.

Backup linebacker Corey Nelson left practice with a calf injury.

Atlanta has lost left guard Andy Levitre and safety Keanu Neal to season-ending injuries. Linebacker Deion Jones will miss at least eight games with a foot injury.

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP) — The Atlanta Falcons are disputing a report that running back Devonta Freeman will be out for as long as three weeks with a knee injury.

Coach Dan Quinn said Monday that he considers Freeman day to day.

Freeman injured his right knee in a Week 1 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles and didn’t play in Sunday’s 31-24 victory over the Carolina Panthers.

ESPN reported that Freeman will miss two to three weeks with a contusion, which would rule him out of next weekend’s NFC South matchup against the New Orleans Saints and possibly a Sept. 30 game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Quinn says he’s “not sure where that report came from. It certainly didn’t come from us.”

But the coach continues to be vague about Freeman’s return, saying he’ll be cleared only when he shows the “same explosion that he plays with.”

Wentz tore his left ACL and LCL on Dec. 10, 2017 in a game against the Los Angeles Rams and had surgery three days later. Backup quarterback Nick Foles led the Eagles to their first NFL title since 1960 and was Super Bowl MVP in the 41-33 victory over New England.

Wentz set a single-season franchise record with 33 touchdown passes last season. The final one came a few plays after he suffered his injury.

The Eagles (1-1) lost 27-21 at Tampa Bay (2-0) on Sunday.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars have added All-Pro defensive end Calais Campbell to the injury report because of knee soreness.

Campbell was listed as questionable for the team’s home opener Sunday against the New England Patriots.

Campbell set a single-season franchise record with 14½ sacks in 2017. He had three tackles, including a sack, in the season opener at the New York Giants last week.

Campbell joins running back Leonard Fournette as game-day decisions against the Patriots. Fournette missed practice all week because of a strained right hamstring and also is listed as questionable.

If Campbell doesn’t play, rookie and first-round draft pick Taven Bryan likely would make his first career start. The Jaguars also get back defensive end Dante Fowler, who was suspended for the opener.

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP) — Atlanta Falcons running back  has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against Carolina because of a knee injury.

Coach Dan Quinn made the announcement after Friday’s practice. Freeman wasn’t able to practice all week.

The running back was injured in a season-opening loss to Philadelphia, another blow to a team that also lost defensive stalwarts Keanu Neal and Deion Jones.

Neal went down with a season-ending knee injury, while Jones was placed on injured reserve with a foot problem.

The Falcons are hopeful that Neal will be able to return, but he will have to miss a minimum of eight games.

Freeman’s injury came after he sat out the entire preseason in order to stay healthy.

That decision came after he was banged up repeatedly during the 2017 season, sustaining two concussions and a right knee injury.

Tevin Coleman will take over the starting spot.
