Cardinals renew camp agreement with Northern Arizona

The Cardinals will be headed to Flagstaff, Ariz., again this summer after the club reached an agreement with Northern Arizona University on a three-year extension.

The new deal will keep the Cardinals at NAU through 2012, according to the Arizona Republic. It’s a move that makes sense. The team can beat the heat in Flagstaff, or at least escape some of the heat that crushes the Valley of the Sun every summer. It gets plenty hot in Flagstaff but in the mountains it cools down in the evening. The Cardinals have called NAU home every summer since packing up the moving vans and heading west from St. Louis in 1988.

Estimates are that the Cardinals help bring about $2 million to the Flagstaff economy annually.
