Cardinals' Mathieu tore ACL

Arizona Cardinals rookie safety Tyrann Mathieu tore his anterior cruciate ligament and lateral collateral ligament on Sunday, according to multiple reports.

A magnetic resonance imaging exam Monday confirmed the initial diagnosis from Sunday.

Mathieu got hurt returning a free kick following a safety and was carted off the field.

This ends a promising season for the former LSU standout.

Mathieu has recorded 63 tackles, two interceptions and one forced fumble.
