Cam Newton returns to practice

Panthers quarterback Cam Newton appears on track to return to game action this Sunday against the Browns.

After being involved in a car accident that required him to be taken to the hospital via ambulance, Newton was back on the practice field throwing passes, according to The Charlotte Observer.

That's good news for the Panthers, which were still able to get a win over the Buccaneers with Derek Anderson starting this past Sunday. Newton had been playing well before his car accident.

Newton suffered two transverse fractures in his back, which is similar to the injury Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo endured. Newton has built a reputation of having a high pain threshold, meaning that if he can get through this week of practice, he'll likely play.
