Browns name Austin Davis starting quarterback over Johnny Manziel

Austin Davis will start for the Cleveland Browns ahead of Johnny Manziel against the Cincinnati Bengals, coach Mike Pettine announced. Manziel will be the backup. "Austin took advantage of his opportunity on Monday night. He was prepared, played well and put us in position to win,” Pettine said. “He’s been great in the quarterback room all season and he has earned the right to start on Sunday. We expect him to play well.” Davis completed 7 of 10 passes for 77 yards and a touchdown in relief of injured starter Josh McCown. Davis completed 180 of 284 passes for 2,001 yards, 12 touchdowns and nine interceptions last seasoan. McCown is out for the season with a broken clavicle and was placed on injured reserve with Terrelle Pryor signed as his replacement. Manziel lost his starting job after he partied hard during the bye, was captured on video doing so and then lied to Pettine about what happened.
