The Cleveland Browns were awarded wide receiver Rodney Smith off waivers from the Minnesota Vikings.

To make room on the active roster, the team cut wide receiver LaRon Byrd.

Smith is 6-5, 220 pounds and in his second NFL season out of Florida State. Originally signed by Minnesota as an undrafted free agent in 2013, Smith spent the first five weeks of his rookie season on the Vikings’ practice squad before being elevated to the active roster. He appeared in four games and was in active for seven. This season, he saw action in the season opener and was inactive the next three games.

He started 34 of his 48 career games at Florida State and recorded 106 receptions for 1,540 yards and 10 touchdowns.
