Biggs: Ware cashes in with Cowboys

DeMarcus Ware stayed low key during contract negotiations with the Dallas Cowboys and it paid off.

In a big way.

Ware cashed in this afternoon, according to Fox’s Jay Glazer, pulling down a six-year extension that includes close to $40 million guaranteed with an annual average of close to $13 million.

It’s a huge deal and most expected Ware to surpass the deal that defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth landed from the Washington Redskins in free agency. The deal will be announced at a press conference in two hours and it will easily make Ware one of the highest-paid defensive players in the league. He has been named to the last three Pro Bowls, has 57 1/2 career sacks and notched 20 sacks last season. He has four so far this year.

Dallas ranked 31st in terms of cash committed in the most recent information from the NFL Management Council, according to a league source. This will boost the Cowboys’ spending this season, that is for sure.
