Biggs: Lions cut DE White, re-sign two

First, the Detroit Lions shed defensive lineman Jared DeVries. Today, it was Dewayne White’s turn to go. The club released him two days after signing Kyle Vanden Bosch as an unrestricted free agent, continuing the massive makeover from the 0-16 season that didn’t happen too long ago.

The Lions announced the moves this afternoon, according to Tom Kowalski of MLive.com, along with the signing of tight end Will Heller to a three-year contract and the signing of wide receiver Brian Clark, primarily a special teams player. Heller made nine starts for Detroit last season and caught 29 passes and three touchdowns.

White battled injuries last season and missed six games. He had 13 sacks in his first two seasons with the Lions.
