Biggs: Cable decision coming this afternoon

More than 2 1/2 months after Oakland Raiders coach Tom Cable allegedly attacked assistant Randy Hanson in a meeting room at training camp, Napa, Calif., district attorney Gary Lieberstein is expected to announce how he plans to proceed with the case at about 5 p.m. (eastern).

Hanson has claimed that Cable broke his jaw in an attack that happened in the presence of other members of the Raiders coaching staff. Originally, he declined to cooperate with authorities. When owner Al Davis made it clear to him that he would not be returning to the field as an assistant for the organization, Hanson changed his mind, got an attorney and decided to cooperate with officials.

Hanson was to meet with Napa police for a second time earlier this week. The NFL has said it will wait to see how authorities proceed before taking action. We’ll find out soon.

Stay tuned.
