Bears DT Marcus Harrison finally passes physical

The Chicago Bears closed their practice Friday night to fans and media at Olivet Nazarene University.

But they finally let defensive tackle Marcus Harrison on the field. The third-round pick in 2008 had been on the non-football injury list after failing his physical when he reported to training camp overweight. It’s the second time in three years Harrison has shown up for camp out of shape and been placed on NFI. He missed the first five practices this summer after missing the first four in 2009.

Entering the final year of his contract, Harrison is in a tough spot after the team re-signed Anthony Adams, drafted Stephen Paea and brought in former Houston Texans first-round draft pick Amobi Okoye. He could be hard-pressed to make the roster.

Harrison was a regular in the rotation on the line in 2010 but fell out of favor last season and played sparingly. In fact, he was inactive most weeks. His target weight is 316 pounds and he showed up for camp at 327.
