Austin, Little and Quinn all done at UNC

North Carolina officially received the news most had expected all along when the NCAA ruled star players Greg Little and Robert Quinn ineligible to play football. The school also announced it had dismissed Marvin Austin from the team.

Austin was dismissed for "violations of NCAA agent benefits, preferential treatment and ethical conduct rules," according to a release by the school.

The defensive tackle, whose case was not submitted to the NCAA for reinstatement, has been part of a probe into possible illegal benefits related to a party in Miami and travel to California. Assistant coach John Blake lost his job after the season began because of his relationship with agent Gary Wichard.

Little and Quinn were ruled permanently ineligible by the NCAA student reinstatement committee. Little, a senior wide receiver, received $4,952 in extra benefits, including diamond earrings, as well as travel accommodations for the Bahamas, Washington D.C. and two trips to Miami.

Quinn, a junior defensive end, accepted two black diamond watches, a pair of matching earrings and travel accommodations for a trip to Miami, among other benefits totaling $5,642.
