Andy Reid probably never figured the Philadelphia Eagles would lose to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.

Even without DeSean Jackson.

But that’s what happened as the playmaking wide receiver was suspended for the game by the coach and the big slide continued in Philly for the Dream Team. Jackson missed a special teams meeting on Saturday morning and, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer, also missed “part of another meeting” last week.

“I thought it was the right thing to do," Reid said. "He needs to step back and make sure that it doesn't happen again.

“I'm not happy about it.”

Jackson, of course, is in a contract standoff with the club and missing team meetings – whatever the excuse is – isn’t a good plan.

"He wants to be an Eagle,” said Jackson spokesman Bobby McRae, who claimed the player overslept. “He's happy being an Eagle. He loves what he's doing in the community, but he realizes there are consequences for his actions, and he's not above the team. When he gets back, he's going to be motivated, and he's going to work hard to contribute."

Jackson had a key fumble on a punt return in the Eagles’ loss to the Chicago Bears last month. His numbers leave plenty to be desired this season, and Jackson famously said earlier this year that his No. 1 concern was not being injured.

"Coach has always been a no-nonsense guy since I've been here," said quarterback Michael Vick. "If it was anybody else aside from DeSean, it would have been the same punishment."

That is was Jackson just wasn’t good for the Eagles. Not on this given Sunday.
