A day after calling him liar, Jared Allen thanks Carl Peterson

A day after tearing into former Kansas City Chiefs president Carl Peterson on a conference call and labeling him a “liar,” Jared Allen took a different approach.

It was the kinder, gentler side of Allen when it comes to the time he spent previously in a Chiefs uniform.

Thanks, Carl," Allen said, according to Dan Wiederer of the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Whoa! Say what?

"He did me something awesome by not signing me back (in 2007)," Allen said. "I'm in a great organization now. The Wilfs are phenomenal. Plus the contract I was going to sign (in Kansas City), this one was 10 times more than that one. ... Honestly, things work out for a reason.”

Things come full circle on Sunday when the winless Vikings travel to face the winless Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. Surely, it will be emotional in a way for Allen. But Peterson is long gone and so is nearly everyone Allen played with.

"They're good fans; they're supposed to boo the opposing team," Allen said. "As long as I don't get hit in the face with a slice of pizza or a rib, I'll be good to go."
