Initial reports were the woman accusing Daryl Washington of domestic abuse had “clear indications” that she had been “physically attacked.”
Now, after the Arizona Cardinals linebacker made his initial appearance in court on Friday, there is more information. Washington has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault and the Arizona Republic reports the woman claims Washington pushed her with two hands, causing her to fall and break her right collarbone. The 27-year-old woman is the mother of Washington’s child.
The woman also accuses Washington of grabbing her neck and pushing her against a railing. Per the report, a medical exam shows injuries consistent with what the woman said happened. The woman suffered bruises and cuts to her arm, hip and leg.
In a statement on Friday, Washington said he is cooperating with authorities.
“This is a legal matter and I am limited in what I can say other than that my lawyer and I will continue to cooperate with investigators and welcome the opportunity for all the facts to be presented,” Washington said, according to the team’s Web site. “I regret that the situation has brought this kind of attention to my family and my team. I look forward to resolving it as soon as possible.”
