In the latest episode of "As the Jets Turn," sources tell the New York Daily News that Coach Rex Ryan would rather be fired than play next season under the same circumstances as 2012.
The sources, anonymous, of course, say that Ryan wants more control over personnel and wants owner Woody Johnson to swallow an undisclosed amount of money while Ryan cleans house with a new offensive coordinator to replace Tony Sparano and several player moves as well.
“If Woody’s not willing to do what it takes to fix the team, then (Ryan) knows he’s better off being fired,” a team source said. “If Woody is willing to eat some money and spend to get us out of this mess, then it’s worth staying.”
Ryan isn't likely to quit, according to the report, and Johnson isn't likely to fire him. So the off-season stage is now set for the showdown with the Jets, who also have to decide if general manager Mike Tannenbaum stays with the club or not.
Don't miss the exciting conclusion.
