Michael Crabtree is expected to play for the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday in the NFC Championship Game despite being questioned by police as part of an investigation into an alleged sexual assault.
San Francisco police said Crabtree, with an attorney present, has cooperated with an investigation and promised to be available for further questioning in the future, Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee reported. The alleged incident occurred in a San Francisco hotel room on Sunday morning after the 49ers dispatched of the Green Bay Packers in the divisional round of the playoffs. Crabtree scored two touchdowns in the victory.
Crabtree has traveled with the team to Atlanta.
“We are aware of the allegation against Michael and understand that he has fully cooperated with authorities," 49ers general manager Trent Baalke said, in a statement released by the club. "The 49ers take such matters very seriously. We will have no further comment at this time as the legal process is ongoing."
