Hall of Fame coach Don Shual weighed in on the controversy surrounding the Miami Dolphins involving suspended offensive guard Richie Incognito.
In Shula's opinion, Incognito should have never been signed and was a character risk not worth taking.
"You win with good people on and off the field," Shula told The Miami Herald. "They took a chance on a guy with a bad reputation, and it backfired on them."
Incognito allegedly bullied teammate Jonathan Martin, and the situation is under investigation with the NFL hiring a special investigator.
"It hurts," Shula said. "You hate to see it happening."
